Powe Should Be Ready

Looks like Darroll Powe is a "go" for Sunday's Flyers-Caps game in Washington.

The exchange today between reporters and Powe, then Peter Laviolette and then GM Paul Holmgren had its moment of laughter.

The Flyers have gone all-in with most NHL clubs in not saying anything about injuries, other than upper and lower body. But Powe took it the distance by no even saying if he had a stomach virus, like Scott Hartnell, has and like several other Flyers are battling.

We all suspect he got dinged on the left shoulder again. We asked him if it were the shoulder or something else.

“I can’t comment on any of that; you’ll have to ask The Big Guy," Powe said.

The Big Guy. That would be Paul Holmgren.

"Upper body region," The Big Guy confirmed.

Later, Holmgren told me that Powe had gotten good news from the doctor. The Flyers will see how he reacts to practice on Saturday and go from there. I expect Powe to play since he sad he felt pretty good.

The Flyers held him out of much of the 4-0 loss in The Big T.O. as a precaution. Again, that suggest his shoulder and not a new injury.

The big wonder is ... will Michael Leighton play vs. Caps or will Ray Emery get back in net? Leighton's magical carpet ride is over. He finally lost a game. This gives Laviolette an excuse to put Emery back in.
